I adore Sidney Bristol! I have a major girl crush on her. There I said it. 😛 She’s clever, gorgeous, has a great fashion sense (retro doll like me!) snarky and BONUS! she is a Dr. Pepper fiend too. We bonded over our love of hot boys and cold soda <g> And she writes! I love her dialogue and the heart in her books… and the steam *blush*
Today is Sidney’s Book Birthday for Bound With Pearls available NOW from Ellora’s Cave! We are celebrating with virtual cake and Sidney is giving away the goodies too. 😉
She tells us her dream book birthday vs. the reality <g> and she also vlogged especially for us! She made me blush with one of them cause it’s SOOOoooooo stinkin’ sweet! One of the nicest things anyone’s done for me ever! I’d hug her and squeeze her if this wasn’t in virtual land.
♥ Wish her a happy book birthday and tell us how you’d spend your dream day to be entered for a digital copy of Bound With Pearls
+ a $10 gift card to Amazon/B&N/or Ellora’s Cave (winner’s choice)
♥ Book Birthday ♥
by Sidney Bristol
I just deleted several lines of, “OMG!!!!!!!” and, “I Can’T BELIEVe my BOOK is out TODAYYYYY!!!!!” I have to be somewhat professional, right? I mean, I can’t say I’m a brand new author anymore. It’s been a whole year and five books so I’m a teeny bit seasoned.
Right! Professionalism. I has it. How about a video to introduce myself since I clearly cannot type without squealing.
I kind of laughed at this in my head. ((It’s not polite to laugh in her face. I’m southern. Which means I”ll just say, “Bless your heart,” and move on.))
Here’s what my friend thought my day would be like:
9am – wake up from a call from my…er…some book person who thinks I’m super important to tell me that my book is now on sale and people love it.
10am – breakfast, or something similar, in the company of a person who looks like a cover model and thinks I’m hysterical.
11am – nodding and smiling and replying to loving fan mail while eating celebratory cake.
12pm – nap time.
1pm – book people check in again, this time name an assumption of the thousands of dollars I’m making.
2pm – write a little, while being seranaded by a painist and concert violinist for the benefit of my muse.
5pm – after a long writing day, dinner at a posh restaurant in the company of at least four attractive male cover models and other book people who have flown in for this momentous occasion.
9pm – cocktails and cake.
10pm – book release party, because a party beginning at 10pm makes sense on a weeknight.
4am – fall into bed, probably with someong hot and sexy.
And that’s the fantasy. Here’s the reality of my day:
7:30am – look at alarm, realize I’ve overslept. Throw on clothes, grab laptop and buzz off to work.
8am – begin ADJ.
8:30am – peek in at The Book Tart.
9am – book goes live on the Ellora’s Cave site, I hurriedly paste the link everywhere, schedule a few tweets, put it on Facebook and check in with The Book Tart.
9:15am – work like crazy, answer phones, work email, DO NOT LOOK AT PERSONAL LAPTOP! DON’T DO IT!
9:45am – look at personal laptop, fingers itch to check email, twitter, The Book Tart and Facebook.
9:50am – Noon – Spend this time in a constant yoyo of peeking at personal laptop and doing work.
12pm – OMG LUNCH AND SO MANY THINGS TO CHECK! MUST DO IT ALL!
12:30pm – drag self away from laptop and back to work, whimpering at all the unread emails, the tweets not sent and Facebook stuff not oogled.
12:30pm – 4:30pm – Continue a constant yoyo of working and wanting to desperately look at blogs, check my release day numbers, etc.
4:30pm – leave work and speed home, hopefully avoid getting a ticket.
5pm – begin evening blitz of being EVERYWHERE!!! Email! Twitter! Blogs! Facebook!
Midnight – drag self to bed, realize I haven’t eaten, shove something in my mouth and fall into bed.
Isn’t being a writer glorious? I wouldn’t trade it for anything, except maybe a cabana boy and an extra day a week to write. It still blows my mind that there are people out here who let me do what I love doing. Today marks the release of my fifth book, and I couldn’t be more excited.
I’ve already shared a little about Bound with Pearls and some facts about pearls, which are indeed a focal point of the book. It’s hot, sexy and a little kinky. ((Okay, a lot kinky, won’t lie!))
Why don’t we take a break from me and talk about how awesome my host is?

More Sidney! More! More More! 😀
It can never be said that Sidney Bristol has had a ‘normal’ life. She is a recovering roller derby queen, former missionary, and tattoo addict. She grew up in a motor-home on the US highways (with an occasional jaunt into Canada and Mexico), traveling the rodeo circuit with her parents. Sidney has lived abroad in both Russia and Thailand, working with children and teenagers. She now lives in Texas where she splits her time between a job she loves, writing, reading and belly dancing.

OMG!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sidney’s books and I’m hoping to snap this one up on payday!
I love the fantasy vs. reality. But my dream day? No kids. No husband. (Love them, but….) and I get up and WRITE ALL DAY! OMG. What a concept. LOL!
(And the reality of THAT is I’d probably end up reading books all day. LOL!)
Congrats on the release!!!!!
Thank you darling!! I’d love to be able to write all day, no interruptions. *wistful sigh*
I wanna read all day too! *sigh* THAT is my dream job.
(((hugs))) Kat
Who WOULDN’T have a girl crush on Sidney? Or you for that matter, Kat? 😉
Dream day? Like Jennifer–no kids, no husband. But unlike Jennifer, no dreams of writing–just point me straight towards my TBR 😉 All day. With some snacks. And possibly a little nap along the way… ah….
Happy release day, Sidney!
Oh man, I haven’t spent a whole day reading in AGES! That’s a good one. Can I take a helping of what you’re having? 😀
*mwah!* darling! Thanks for joining in on the fun and I’d join you in a dream of reading all day… and a little nap too?
Heaven!
Kat
OMG I so enjoyed this!!! Sid, your cat is a total attention whore! Made me laugh. (But it didn’t sell the book–I’ve already bought it! Cannot wait to read it, darling!)

Man, and there goes my plan for publishing domination by just throwing Mario at people. Hope you like the book!!
Thanks for celebrating with us!
xoxo Kat
I would wake up leisurely in Paris and go for a run. Then I would sip cafe and eat a croissant on my balcony overlooking the city. then my boyfriend and i would spend the whole day walking around the city (with perfect weather) and enjoying ourselves, followed by dinner and some jazz!
Oh lovely! I went to Paris last year, loved it! The chocolate croissants? Man, I dream of those!
It also just so happens that the book that follows this one takes place in Paris!
mmmm I wanna go too!
xoxo, Kat
Happy Book Birthday Sidney! As for how I would spend the perfect day – I would spend a good portion of the morning/afternoon in the spa getting a massage, a pedicure and a facial and then I would put on some nice clothes and do my makeup and head out to dinner and maybe a movie. Thanks for the giveaway
Oh man, I want a facial so bad! Your day sounds great. Got room for a tag along? 😀
Oh! Hi Maria! We could do a girl pamper day and go to the spa *dreaming* mmm nice! my toes need a pedi lol
Kat
For me, an ideal day would start with a fun dance class like maybe belly dancing or burlesque. Then I would go have breakfast with friends or something, gorge a little. Take a short nap, then go have lunch at a great restaurant (perhaps sushi or Thai). I’d go to the museum or go see a play. Maybe go listen to live music or go sky diving then go salsa dancing with the girls and have fun!!!
Oh man, love it! Count me in too 😉
I love that a few of you have included NAPS! I <3 naps, I daydream about taking one... *sigh* dream big right?!
I'm with you on the dance class too.
kat
My dream day would definitely find me in New York, which is one of my favorite places. I would probably spend as much of the day shopping as I possibly could and only stop to eat something yummy.
I love shopping! I can outspend almost everyone I know. It’s a gift.
*squee!* Shop! Shop! Shop! My favorite sport!
kat
Oh that was fun. 😀 And I love Dr. Pepper too! But I’m not from Texas. lol. Thanks for sharing!
You don’t have to be from Texas to appreciate it!!!
Melissa! *fist bump* Dr. Pepper Lovers unite!
(((hugs)))

OMG this is a fabulous post!! Another book I must read and another author I think I am hooked on 🙂
All Day Dreams are great.
My perfect day would consist of a day of peace and quiet, reading great romances, eating pizza and chocolate that do not have calories, on a tropical island. Oh, and getting massages, pedicures, etc.

Happy book birthday!!! Looking forward to reading this book! My day would consist of a huge party with all my closest friends and family, great food and wine. I would also include a few hours of reading in there somewhere!
I would celebrate the release of this book by having some chocolate with a dr. pepper. Then maybe get a tattoo of pearls on my leg in honor of the book. I love Sidney’s books. I am really looking forward to reading this one.
Interesting how most of our perfect days would include uninterrupted reading time. My perfect day consists of a comfy chaise lounge, a gorgeous view of the woods (Sedona, perhaps) soft down comforters on a cold winter’s day, salted caramel chai tea, blue berry scones, and a stack of wonderful books. I would spend my day in book lover’s bliss. Sidney, you look lovely in that dress. One thing I love the most about retro is how flattering it is on a WOMAN’s body. A woman that celebrates her figure rather than hide it in shame is always sexy. I can’t wait to read your book!
My dream day is a day at the beach with a book or my kindle reading and enjoying the day with my husband. He travels a lot so it’s a dream day if he’s in it. lol Book sounds fabulous Siday! Congrats and Happy release day!
