The Jane Austen Book Club

by Karen Joy Fowler

Any other fans of Jane Austen out there in Tartlandia, or am I alone? If there are no other fans, WHY NOT?!?  …I know, I know, “To each his own,” right?

Well, I am an unabashed fan. I have read all six of her novels (my favorite and most beloved being Pride & Prejudice). I enjoy most of the books’ film adaptations (although my favorite P&P ones are the updated versions: Bridget Jones’ Diary and the YouTube series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries .

New Releases January 1

Happy New Year!

I am using a painfully slow internet connection in the Caribbean to write this so it will be shortish. I know! I know! poor poor pitiful me! 😛

I am so excited about what’s in store for this upcoming year. There are some new things coming soon to The Book Tart… Like the wish list *sigh* soon! I hope. *head/desk*

All this week I am revealing the custom art for my Court of Reviews! I love the work. Click HERE to see.

Oh! ok, I knew January 1st had a LOT of new releases, it’s a Tuesday. But I didn’t realize that December 31st had lots too! I’ll know better next year. There were over 250 titles released yesterday! Click HERE

Click HERE 900+ titles in the database for today! If 90 pages of books seems a bit overwhelming (it does!) you can view the pages with more books on them. I actually use the |show pages starting at 1| function on the upper left and request… honestly? all 900 and then sit and scroll through them. 😉 I also use the Advanced Search function to make the list more manageable.

Click HERE to see only the 208+ ebooks

I have a few contests!

Also, Arlene Webb took my doomsday quiz and we’re celebrating the release of her Prepper Romance Falling for Water! Click HERE

Book Shelf tour and Random Reading Wednesday

I read semi-randomly from a book on my Mary Janice Davidson shelf <g> I knew what was on that shelf , just not the book I would grab. The book I snagged is Undead and Unemployed from MJD Undead series. If you want a light hearted vampire series that will make you giggle I can vouch for the first 5-6, :p I’m kinda behind!

I also give an explanation for why some of my books are sideways on my shelves… short version is that I’m lazy and too distractable and just can’t seem to finish cataloging my books! Soooo, the one’s I haven’t cataloged  on that wall are tipped over to help me remember. It’s become my normal. Doesn’t everyone have books on their shelves like that? :p

Goodbye Maine…

I’ve been in the gorgeous state of Maine for the last 3 weeks and we are leaving tomorrow and heading back to Colorado. I was trying to think of a fun way to say goodbye and post some pictures and today I went to a cute bookstore in Yarmouth called Royal River Books to meet Steph, a new friend and book blogger from http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/ She is so nice and snarky and smart and reads a ton! Check out her site 🙂 Oh! She gave me books! *sigh* I <3 Steph! That girl definitely knows her way to a bookaholics heart. <g>  Anyway, while I was browsing the shelves I saw a children’s book called Goodnight Maine in the store. It’s a state specific take on Margaret Wise Brown’s classic Goodnight Moon. I amused myself tonight by coming up with a silly rhyme. That doesn’t always rhyme… But I had fun and get to show you my pictures. And I did mention books :p

Here goes….

So I could see all the new books and search them by date. Please click here to see the 100+ print titles out today 🙂 I still don’t have ebook only titles listed and I am beginning to despair of my database ever getting everything I want *sigh* if you happen to be a programmer and want to help? :p Oh! please do contact me if the New Fiction Release database is missing a book and I will try to correct that.

I have one contest running right now. Enter the Celebrate July contest for a chance to win 4 books plus some fun swag.

The Book Tart episode 9- Review of Dana Marie Bell’s The Gray Court series

I am still in the beautiful state of Maine for another week and I don’t have a brand spankin’ new vlog to share… But it actually works out perfectly because I have this fun video where I ramble on over Dana Maria Bell’s The Gray Court novels and I hadn’t posted it yet. 🙂 I really enjoyed this series. The Gray Court novels are erotic paranormal romance and very yummy and sweet.
Enjoy!
