Me: Hi Jennifer! Come on in hon and rest a bit on my love seat (it’s the short couch for short chats) Can I get you a drink? Some munchies?

Yes, please some diet Coke would be perfect. I’ll pass on the munchies as I’m too nervous/excited to eat right now. 😉

Me: *hands Jennifer her drink and collapses on sofa* Butterflies doing acrobatics in your tummy hon?

So you must be crazy busy counting down the days till your first book birthday on July 1st.  *Kermit flail* I am so happy for you! Congratulations on your debut Rancher To The Rescue from Harlequin.

Jennifer: Thanks so much! I’m so happy to be here, celebrating my debut. This truly is a lifetime dream come true. I’ve been reading Harlequins for…well let’s just say a very long time. LOL.

Me: You too? I used to grab them off the spinner wrack at the library starting when I was…. ummm 12ish? 😛

Damsel in a wedding dress!

Jilted at the altar, celebrity chef Meghan Finnegan flees the scene–and the baying press–only to run straight into the muscled torso of Cash Sullivan.

The former rodeo champion knows what it’s like to have your life crumble in the spotlight, so he offers Meghan a place to lie low at his ranch.

Fresh air, no paparazzi and the brooding rancher’s lazy smile are making Meghan not want to leave her sanctuary. But she and her unborn baby can’t stay here forever…can they?

Me: Mmmmm *sigh* I really enjoyed Rancher To The Rescue. (review as soon as I finish writing it!) I know you have a lot to do as you countdown the few days left till your book release and already you are on the Harlequin best seller list! *squee!* Can you share a bit about your new book?

Jennifer: Sure. Here’s a snippet of RANCHER TO THE RESCUE:

The fluffy material of the runaway bride’s dress hit Cash in the face as she turned in the seat and slammed the door shut.

“Drive. Fast.”

He smashed down the material from her veil, not caring if he wrinkled it. He’d never laid eyes on this woman before today, and he wasn’t about to drive her anywhere until he got some answers. “Why?”

“I don’t have time to explain. Unless you want to be front and center in tomorrow’s paper, you’ll drive.”

His gaze swung around to the photographers. They hadn’t noticed her yet, but that didn’t ease his discomfort. “You didn’t kill anyone, did you?”

“Of course not.” She sighed. “Do you honestly think I’d be in this getup if I was going to murder someone?”

“I’m not into any Bonnie and Clyde scenario.”

“That’s good to know. Now that we have that straightened out, can you put the pedal to the metal and get us out of here before they find me?”

Me: <g> I loved that bit!

Before I let you get back to your birthday plans… tell me you have ordered cupcakes?! We will make time for…. *drumroll*

The Book Tart Quickie

1. Do you ride horses?

I used to in my younger days. I grew up in a farming community so it wasn’t hard to find someone with a horse to ride. Then later in college I took English Horsemanship as an elective. That was an amazing experience.

2. As a statistician what is the oddest thing you ever had to calculate?
I.B.N.R. by Policy Year or Accident Year. When I first started working in insurance, it was the hardest concept for me to comprehend. Incurred But Not Reported. It’s money set aside to cover claims that have yet to be reported, so it’s a guesstimation based on past experience and other factors.

Meep! That makes by brain hurt! lol  I.B.N.R. should stand for  ummm… Iguanas Being Naughty Really 😛 Imagine Bob Noons Redhair?
3. What’s your comfort food choice?
It all depends…pancakes, mac-n-cheese, chocolate… I’m not really picky. 😉

mmmmm now I want mac-n-cheese…
4. What color socks are you wearing?
None. In the summer I go barefoot. I would in the winter too, but I get too cold. LOL.
5. Even though the Pittsburg Penguins didn’t make it to the NHL finals… who did you root for?

You mean I’m supposed to root for another team??? I’m a Pittsburgher and one thing we’re known for is sticking by our teams through the good and the not-so-good. I’m already looking ahead to the next season which is just around the corner.

lol Good answer! And I root for them because well… I’m a fan of penguins. *nods* I’ve collected stuffed ones since I was a munchkin.

6. Do you have a movie you have to watch every year?
GONE WITH THE WIND. It’s hands down my absolute favorite movie. I’ve been watching it since I was a little kid. Rhett Butler is just so dreamy. 😉
7. What fictional character would you like to go on a date with?
*Clears throat* Well, if I wasn’t already married to my real life hero, I’d love to go out with Cash Sullivan from RANCHER TO THE RESCUE. He’s tall and sexy. I mean how can you not fall for a guy who looks after his grandma???

I’ll fight you for Cash! He’s sexy and so darn thoughtful! Yep… I’d fight you for him. 😀

8. What kind of music do you listen to?
Country. I put it on in the car as soon as I climb in. Drives my hubby crazy, LOL.
9. What is your guiltiest self-indulgent beauty product?
My OPI nail polish. When I sold, I wanted nail polish for my celebration dinner. I ended up buying the most expensive in the store. Since then I’ve added more bottles. I justified it by saying that it lasts longer. It really does…honest. 🙂

I believe you! And I love that you bought a special bottle to celebrate selling your first story. 😉

10. What’s your Saturday morning routine?
I don’t have one. Saturdays are wild card days. Family is priority on weekends. So my Saturday morning depends on what’s on tap with them. But come Monday morning it’s back to business.
Me: *couch flailing* So Much Fun! Thanks hon.

Again congratulations on your debut Rancher To The Rescue. I am counting down the days till July 1st too. Please come back again and visit longer for your next release, Snowbound With A Soldier in October.

Jennifer: Thanks so much! I really enjoyed chatting. I’d absolutely love to come back for my second release.

Me: *squee!*

Jennifer FayeMore Jennifer:

Jennifer Faye has spent most of her life with her nose in one book or another. It was only natural that she dreamed of becoming a romance writer and spinning the tales of the imaginary people running around in her mind. But first life took her on a couple of detours. Refusing to give up on her dreams, she finally succeeded in getting her name on a book cover. She currently resides in Pennsylvania with her very, very patient husband, one amazing daughter (the other remarkable daughter has flown the coop to chase her own dreams) and two spoiled rotten cats. When she’s not glued to her laptop writing another contemporary romance (which isn’t often) or enjoying some family time, she loves to get lost in a good book, cross-stitch, embroider, quilt, knit, watch hockey (go Pittsburgh Penguins!), and garden. Jennifer loves to hear from readers–you can contact her via her website.

  1. Congrats on your upcoming release, Jennifer! I enjoyed the interview and snippet of book. I would love going out with one of the Kelly brothers from Maya Banks KGI series 🙂

  2. Here I am again, Jennifer! So glad you are excited about your debut as a published author. If you like what you do…the success and money will follow. I, too, loved Gone With the Wind. I didn’t like the sequel that was written by another author, however. The Notebook was a two-Kleenex movie too. Continue to have fun as you celebrate! Talk again to you soon. Keep on writin’!

  3. I am answering the question about what color socks I am wearing and they are… socks, I am barefoot on hardwood floors, and I love the feeling.

  4. 7. Jamie Fraser from “Outlander.” He’s hunky, chivalrous, funny and smart!
    Thanks for the giveaway!
