The Book Tart Episode 11- review of Fifty Shames of Earl Grey

I read Fifty Shames of Earl Grey by Andrew Shaffer last night and laughed my fool head off :p I was recently approved to request books from NetGalley to review new books *woot!* and this title was the first one I requested. I’ve been looking forward to this book since I read about it  from Andrew’s hysterical tweets  in March. He was giving a twitter review while he read Fifty Shades of Grey and made a joke that he should write a fanfic of the novel. Dreams can come true 🙂

This book is a celebration of the ridiculous! It amused me and made me laugh out loud throughout the parody. I have not read the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, yet, but it seemed that Andrew took those novels, Twilight, popular romance fiction tropes and various pop culture icons and shook them up… rather like taking a soda bottle and shaking it to watch the foam spray on everything. The writing is clever and witty and educational! I had no fracking clue there were so many euphemisms for reproductive organs *snort*  I whipped through this book and recommend it if you are in the mood to be entertained by the absurd. I would read a sequel if he writes Fifty Shames in Space. *snicker* I can’t help thinking of the Muppet’s and “Pigs in Space”
