Interview with Jennifer Bernard + giveaway!

One Fine Fireman: A Bachelor Firemen Novella by Jennifer BernardThere is something almost irresistible about a fireman (or woman 😛 )  And Jennifer Bernard writes sexy hot, emotionally charged contemporary romances that star fire fighters! They will definitely warm you up this winter 🙂 I fell in love with the Firemen of San Gabriel series this past summer when I picked up The Fireman Who Loved Me on the recommendation of Dawn from Daydrmzzz Book Reviews. I connected with Jen’s writing, her sense of humor, the emotional depth in the relationships and yes, 😉 the steamy love scenes.

I just finished reading One Fine Fireman and it’s a delicious treat as we wait for the 3rd full length novel Sex and the Single Fireman out the end of January!

Grab a virtual oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and settle in for my chat with Jennifer.

Oh! I’m giving one lucky commentor a kindle copy of the new novella One Fine Fireman. Comment with a sexy/silly/sweet fireman title idea to enter. 😉

Me: Jennifer! Come on in! I know it’s a crazy busy week and I’m so excited that you could stop by. Get cozy on my red couch and I’ll get the snacks. Can I get you something to drink? Latte, soda, water, hot chocolate? I’m mostly a Dr. Pepper girl… but I’m in the mood for hot chocolate WITH whip cream. Go big or go home 😛

Jen: Hi Kat! It’s great to be here! Thank you so much for saving me a seat on your red couch. And since I have a 32.3 percent chance of spilling whatever I drink (I can’t talk without waving my hands around) make mine a glass of something red. Wine will be fine.

Me: *snort* <g> It’ll blend right in, flail away. 🙂

Sooo hon… *sets Jen’s drink and a plate of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies on the coffee table* Are you ready for the holiday season? If you say yes, I might cry! <g>  *grabs hankie in preparation*

Jen: I can’t lie. I’m so ready for December. In December we’re getting on a plane to Hawaii and we’re not coming back until February. I know that something big is happening in December, and I have a feeling it involves shopping, but I’m blocking that part out. Maybe it’ll come back to me later in December. Right now I’m just glad to be getting the heck out of Alaska. It’s been freakishly cold here! *guzzles red wine*

Me: Awww, that kind of ready is ok. Hawaii, Nice! If you had everything wrapped and holiday cards already mailed… then I’d cry 😉

Do you have anything special you must have on the table for a holiday meal? Like a particular cookie, pie, side dish… green bean casserole or sweet potatoes etc? Something you and your fam look forward to eating? I love my mom’s scalloped potatoes *daydreams* really anything with cheese is a huge weakness of mine! Lol

Jen: Lately we’ve been making homemade chocolate – in fact I brought you some. *hands over adorable heart-shaped chocolate* This recipe is great if you’re trying to stay away from white sugar and dairy but still get your chocolate fix. The ingredients are somewhat out of the ordinary but if you can find them in Homer, Alaska, you can find them anywhere.

Raw cacao paste

Coconut oil or butter

Agave nectar (choose the brand carefully, organic is best)

Peppermint (or flavor of choice) oil

All you do is melt the cacao paste in a double boiler, being careful not to get it too hot. Add coconut oil or butter until the consistency looks good. Add some agave until it’s as sweet as you want. Then add a few drops of peppermint. You pour the chocolate into molds or even ice cube trays and pop them in the freezer. That’s it! It’s so easy and so delicious.

Me: *swallows chocolate* Oh. My. Goodness. Yum! Thank you 😀

*sings* “It’s the most wonderful time of the year… la-la-la” I do love the holidays but they often bring more chaos and you have had a super busy year already! Two full length novels in your Firemen series plus your brand new novella, One Fine Fireman a few weeks ago. *takes a bite of cookie* Happy late book birthday! I am so glad that your novella will be released next week (Dec. 4th) in print too, cause I wants it for my pretty print collection of your books.  Can you share a bit about the Firemen series and what we can look forward to… and how you’ve managed to stay sane-ish? 😛

Jen: I’m still working on that sane-ish part. If I figure it out I’ll definitely let you know! It has been a crazy busy year, but I’m so grateful for it. The Bachelor Fireman series from Avon Books is about a California firehouse that’s famous for havingSex and the Single Fireman: A Bachelor Firemen Novel by Jennifer Bernard a plethora of single, sexy, smokin’ hot firefighters. Rumor has it the poor guys are under a curse that dooms them to a rocky road to romance. One by one, they battle the curse to find their happily ever afters, and we get to laugh at them the whole way. I mean, laugh with them. The first two books came out in May and June, and One Fine Fireman just came out in ebook, print available Dec. 4. It’s a prequel to the entire series. Sex and the Single Fireman is coming out in February – the heroine is one of the female firefighters on the crew. That was a ton of fun to write!  Right now I’m working on the 4th book in the series, called How to Tame a Wild Fireman. By the way, I’m always in the market for fun “fireman” book titles.

Me: Oh! Great idea! 😉 (leave us a comment with a fireman themed title for a chance to win her new novella!)

Ok, since this is a hectic month, we’ll make this short. But I can’t let you get away without some silliness *snicker*

Jen: Bring it on! I love me some silliness. More wine, please?

Me: *tops off Jen’s glass and takes a gulp of my own*

We’re gonna play a quick game of Madlibs… Nope! Not telling what the title is 😛 it’s funnier this way. <g>

My Dream Man Mad:)Take Contributed by Roselyn
My “Dream Man” should, first of all be very Silly and Sensual.  He should have a physique like LL Cool J, a profile like Kate Middleton, and the intelligence of a/an Porcupine.  He must be polite and must always remember to Bounce my Trampoline, to tip his Garden hoe and to take my Middle finger when crossing the street.  He should move Blissfully, have a/an Sassy voice, and should always dress Sinfully.  I would also like him to be a/an Reckless dancer, and when we are alone he should whisper Buttery nothings into my Tongue and hold my Luxurious Snowman. I know a/an Bathroom is hard to find. In fact the only one I can think of is My husband Scott

3.       Plotter or pantster?: Overall plotter, pantser within that structure. Oh, and major rewriter.

      (((hugs))) Kat

  2. I hope I can type because I’m still laughing so hard over the madlibs! This is the best interview ever! 😀

I’m a sucker for Firefighter romances, and I’m always searching high and low for such stories that I can add to my list. I’m not alone in my obsession so I can’t wait to share this with all my friends and readers.

Can one ask a fireman to light one’s fire when he’s supposed to be putting them out? Thinking of titles is so difficult!

    Scorched by the Fireman
    One Night with a Fireman
    The Fireman of Her Dreams
The Fireman Makes a House Call
The Fireman’s Hold (Oh, I like this one)

That’s all I could think of.

BT, thank you for the awesome interview and to the both of you, thanks for the giveaway!

Jen, it looks like you need to write LOTS more 🙂

      (((hugs))) Kat

      1. I spit out my coffee at “garden hoe” and went back to check because I was SURE she meant garden “hose”. Well, at least she added “garden” or else this would be a completely different story, rofl!

Yes, Jen, I hope you use the last title. That has all kinds of possibilities, doncha think? 😉

Oh lordy, thanks for the laughs! This interview just keeps on giving!

  3. Kat, this was so hilarious!! I read it to my husband and he cracked up. Too much fun!

Maria and Michelle, your titles rock. Seriously. I’m keeping a list, and if they end up on a book, I want to put you in the acknowledgements (only if you want, of course!) And yes, Michelle, that last one has lots of potential!! I love The Fireman of her Dreams too. And Firemen are Forever. And One Night with a Fireman. And … what the heck, they’re all great! 😉

  4. Love you chat, your chocolate recipe, and your books, Jenny. And I am sooooooooooo jelious of your escape from cold Alaska
As far as the book, how about (The Fireman and The Ice Princess)? Ohhhhhhhh, can you imagine the possibilities if a smoking hot fireman stud got into a close enough proximity to an ice cold, hurt-too-many-times already beauty? How much heat do you think it would take to thaw her out? 🙂

  5. Karen Erickson’s Under My Umbrella has a super hot fireman and Heroes of Silver Springs series is a steamer as well.

    grapeapril75(AT)gmail.com

  6. the irresistible fireman
    tricked by a fireman
    the impossible fireman
    fireman who shows no mercy
    fireman without mercy
    the wicked firema
    the alpha firema
