author of Bring Me Back

Thanks Kat for inviting me to grace the Book Tart blog for the second time—I’m honored!

Me: I adore you, you know. 😉

As you know, I’m here because I have a brand new book called Bring Me Back, about a music journalist who lands a career-defining interview with the rock star she was obsessed with in high school. The origin of the book is simple and came to me in a dream. It was a very, shall we say, steamy dream about a man who is not my husband.

Too vague?

Okay, it was a sex dream about a rock star but that’s as specific as I’m getting. Those of you who know me can venture a guess. Those of you who don’t know me can still guess. We’ll make it a game.

Me: oh! Oh! *jumps up and down*

I know this… Maybe he’s on your Pinterest board?

This happened nearly a dozen years ago, when my husband and I were in St. Barts. I hadn’t thought about the man in my dream in years. Years. But in my foggy post-dream state, I found myself thinking that it wouldn’t be that weird for a girl to meet and fall in love with the rock star she was obsessed with in high school. If it was twenty years later? That would be cool. As I came to full consciousness, my husband rolled over and that reminded me that the girl would not be me, but I was intrigued by the idea. So I tucked it away in my head.

Eight years later, I began to write. What can I say? I needed some time to let the idea percolate. Plus I had to muster the guts to write a novel. While working on the book, I channeled my inner teenage girl, plastering her walls with posters, dreaming up romantic scenarios about an idol. (Perhaps that was practice for later penning love stories.) It was great fun to think about those times, but also a bit sad when I remembered the heartache every teenage girl feels when she starts to realize her dream man will most likely never be hers.

Or maybe he will…it just might take twenty years to get there.

Following is the blurb for Bring Me Back. I would love to hear from your readers about the rock star or movie star they could never forget. One commenter will be chosen randomly to win their choice of my backlist ebooks, which can be found at my website, www.karenbooth.net.

Me: Really? *squee!* Thank you doll!

She’s floored when she lands a Rolling Stone cover story on 80s British rock legend Christopher Penman. Still, she contains her adolescent fantasies and manages to earn his trust, unearthing the truth and the devastating secret behind it. His blockbuster story is her first priority when she returns home, a nearly impossible task when Christopher starts calling and flirting. She knows she should maintain a professional distance. She knows she should focus on the story. She knows it would be best to simply walk away. But how can she say “no” to the man she could never forget?“Fast-paced, sexy and altogether irresistible, Bring Me Back is made all the more appealing by Karen Booth’s inside knowledge of the music industry. 1. wow–I get a lot of people “confessing” their rock star crush to me, but this is a first for James Hetfield. All of that swinging blonde hair and growl-y voice…I can see that!

    2. Hey hon!
You know I love you right?
Thanks for all your support and yes! Read this book! 😀
My review is late. *sigh* But Bring Me Back made me laugh and cry and sigh…

      1. All his hair reminds me that hair is nice when you need something to hold onto… like a certain someone says in Bring Me Back 😀

Thanks for sharing your crush Dione!
        xoxo, Kat

    1. Maria! Hey hon 🙂

Duran Duran hun? I think I know another huge fan… but you won’t have to fight over your favs

      xoxo, Kat

  1. Ok, so above J.A. Huss says James Hetfield was her crush…I’ll join in the Metallica genre.

Mine was Jason Newsted. I was 11 when I first saw the video for One, totally mesmerized apparently. Saw them play for the first time when I was 18. Met him a few times over the years (fan club perks). Could barely form words the first time. My best friend at the time had a soft spot for James and we had a nickname for the two of them because of their stage performance… The Vibe and Grind Duo! I clearly remember one show where James was down on the stage floor playing the hell out of his guitar and Jason was leaning back against the bass monitors. You’d think we were both going to pass out LOL!

    1. love it! You need to read Bring Me Back 🙂 you’ll know what Claire is going through when she meets Chris for the first time!
      Thanks for stopping by!
      xoxo

        1. It’s one of my new favs 😉 almost done with my review. I would much prefer to spaz out about how wonderful it is in person! lol
I love Claire and Sam’s mother/daughter dynamic and Chris and Claire? *swoon*
          🙂
          Loved!
