I am so happy to have Karen Booth back at The Book Tart. She’s one of the first friends I made on twitter and she’s generous, snarky, silly and amazing. I adore her!
She has a brand new book! Bring Me Back came out Saturday, January 19! *Kermit Flail* Party time! It is so good! I love her way with words. I’ve been giggling and sighing and nodding my head as I’ve read it. 😀
UPDATE! just finished Bring Me Back and I LOVE it.

Karen share with us a bit more about where the idea for Bring Me Back came from. Enjoy!

Thanks Kat for inviting me to grace the Book Tart blog for the second time—I’m honored!
Me: I adore you, you know. 😉
As you know, I’m here because I have a brand new book called Bring Me Back, about a music journalist who lands a career-defining interview with the rock star she was obsessed with in high school. The origin of the book is simple and came to me in a dream. It was a very, shall we say, steamy dream about a man who is not my husband.
Too vague?
Okay, it was a sex dream about a rock star but that’s as specific as I’m getting. Those of you who know me can venture a guess. Those of you who don’t know me can still guess. We’ll make it a game.
Me: oh! Oh! *jumps up and down*
I know this… Maybe he’s on your Pinterest board?
This happened nearly a dozen years ago, when my husband and I were in St. Barts. I hadn’t thought about the man in my dream in years. Years. But in my foggy post-dream state, I found myself thinking that it wouldn’t be that weird for a girl to meet and fall in love with the rock star she was obsessed with in high school. If it was twenty years later? That would be cool. As I came to full consciousness, my husband rolled over and that reminded me that the girl would not be me, but I was intrigued by the idea. So I tucked it away in my head.
Eight years later, I began to write. What can I say? I needed some time to let the idea percolate. Plus I had to muster the guts to write a novel. While working on the book, I channeled my inner teenage girl, plastering her walls with posters, dreaming up romantic scenarios about an idol. (Perhaps that was practice for later penning love stories.) It was great fun to think about those times, but also a bit sad when I remembered the heartache every teenage girl feels when she starts to realize her dream man will most likely never be hers.
Or maybe he will…it just might take twenty years to get there.
Following is the blurb for Bring Me Back. I would love to hear from your readers about the rock star or movie star they could never forget. One commenter will be chosen randomly to win their choice of my backlist ebooks, which can be found at my website, www.karenbooth.net.

Oh geeze – high school celebrity crush – I’d have to go with James Hetfield from Metallica. In fact, I still crush on him. 🙂 What a fun sounding book!
wow–I get a lot of people “confessing” their rock star crush to me, but this is a first for James Hetfield. All of that swinging blonde hair and growl-y voice…I can see that!
Hey hon!
You know I love you right?
Thanks for all your support and yes! Read this book! 😀
My review is late. *sigh* But Bring Me Back made me laugh and cry and sigh…
(((hugs))) Kat
my high school celebrity crush would be singer bryan adams
parisfan_ca@yahoo.com
very nice. The man could rock a pair of jeans, that’s for sure!
Hi Laurie!
Thanks for sharing your crush 😀
xoxo, Kat
Umm… hmmm… when I was in high school I think it was Justin Timberlake (N’Sync days) and Leonardo DiCaprio.
mestith@gmail.com
Justin is adorable and hilarious, but way too young for me. *Sigh*. And I refuse to call him JT, but that’s because I have my own JT.
thank you lol
xoxo, Kat
High school celebrity crush…..would have to say Brett Michaels.
my college roommate was way into Brett Michaels, but I could never figure out if she truly liked Poison or if it was an ironic thing.
All his hair reminds me that hair is nice when you need something to hold onto… like a certain someone says in Bring Me Back 😀
Thanks for sharing your crush Dione!
xoxo, Kat
Kat, you nailed me with the Pinterest board. We have a winner!
and I don’t mean a winner for *THIS* contest, just that Kat is an excellent (and well-informed) guesser.

I was a huge Duran Duran fan in the 80’s when I graduated HS…my favorite was the lead singer Simon LeBon…..lol
Maria! Hey hon 🙂
Duran Duran hun? I think I know another huge fan… but you won’t have to fight over your favs
xoxo, Kat
you had me at Duran Duran, Maria! If you happen to read my book, you may recognize a few things.
Ok, so above J.A. Huss says James Hetfield was her crush…I’ll join in the Metallica genre.
Mine was Jason Newsted. I was 11 when I first saw the video for One, totally mesmerized apparently. Saw them play for the first time when I was 18. Met him a few times over the years (fan club perks). Could barely form words the first time. My best friend at the time had a soft spot for James and we had a nickname for the two of them because of their stage performance… The Vibe and Grind Duo! I clearly remember one show where James was down on the stage floor playing the hell out of his guitar and Jason was leaning back against the bass monitors. You’d think we were both going to pass out LOL!
Thanks for stopping by!
xoxo
Oh yes I’ve read it, and I love it
It’s one of my new favs 😉 almost done with my review. I would much prefer to spaz out about how wonderful it is in person! lol
I love Claire and Sam’s mother/daughter dynamic and Chris and Claire? *swoon*
🙂
Loved!
I would have to say Matt Dillon. He always seemed to be the hot, bad boy!
