I am so happy to have Karen Booth back at The Book Tart. She’s one of the first friends I made on twitter and she’s generous, snarky, silly and amazing. I adore her!
She has a brand new book! Bring Me Back came out Saturday, January 19! *Kermit Flail* Party time! It is so good! I love her way with words. I’ve been giggling and sighing and nodding my head as I’ve read it. 😀
UPDATE! just finished Bring Me Back and I LOVE it.

Thanks Kat for inviting me to grace the Book Tart blog for the second time—I’m honored!
Me: I adore you, you know. 😉
As you know, I’m here because I have a brand new book called Bring Me Back, about a music journalist who lands a career-defining interview with the rock star she was obsessed with in high school. The origin of the book is simple and came to me in a dream. It was a very, shall we say, steamy dream about a man who is not my husband.
Okay, it was a sex dream about a rock star but that’s as specific as I’m getting. Those of you who know me can venture a guess. Those of you who don’t know me can still guess. We’ll make it a game.
Me: oh! Oh! *jumps up and down*
I know this… Maybe he’s on your Pinterest board?
This happened nearly a dozen years ago, when my husband and I were in St. Barts. I hadn’t thought about the man in my dream in years. Years. But in my foggy post-dream state, I found myself thinking that it wouldn’t be that weird for a girl to meet and fall in love with the rock star she was obsessed with in high school. If it was twenty years later? That would be cool. As I came to full consciousness, my husband rolled over and that reminded me that the girl would not be me, but I was intrigued by the idea. So I tucked it away in my head.
Eight years later, I began to write. What can I say? I needed some time to let the idea percolate. Plus I had to muster the guts to write a novel. While working on the book, I channeled my inner teenage girl, plastering her walls with posters, dreaming up romantic scenarios about an idol. (Perhaps that was practice for later penning love stories.) It was great fun to think about those times, but also a bit sad when I remembered the heartache every teenage girl feels when she starts to realize her dream man will most likely never be hers.
Or maybe he will…it just might take twenty years to get there.
Following is the blurb for Bring Me Back. I would love to hear from your readers about the rock star or movie star they could never forget. One commenter will be chosen randomly to win their choice of my backlist ebooks, which can be found at my website, www.karenbooth.net.

Music critic Claire Abby is a single mom dreading her daughter’s departure for college and worried that turning forty will leave her career running on fumes. She’s floored when she lands a Rolling Stone cover story on 80s British rock legend Christopher Penman. She spent her teenage years fantasizing he was her boyfriend. In person, Christopher is everything Claire feared he’d be–charming, witty and unwilling to address the rumors he’s dodged for a decade. Still, she contains her adolescent fantasies and manages to earn his trust, unearthing the truth and the devastating secret behind it. His blockbuster story is her first priority when she returns home, a nearly impossible task when Christopher starts calling and flirting. She knows she should maintain a professional distance. She knows she should focus on the story. She knows it would be best to simply walk away. But how can she say “no” to the man she could never forget?“Fast-paced, sexy and altogether irresistible, Bring Me Back is made all the more appealing by Karen Booth’s inside knowledge of the music industry. A flat-out fabulous read!”-Celia Rivenbark, New York Times Bestselling author
