Bonkchair Chat with Codi Gary!

kiss me I’m laughing like an Animaniac creating this post. 🙂 Codi Gary is one of my new favorite people! I was introduced to her on Twitter by Jennifer Bernard and I’m so thankful. We’ve become fast friends, very fast! lol We seem to have the same sense of humor and appreciation of the ridiculous… and hotness. 😉

Codi’s debut was on Tuesday with the release of the Kiss Me anthology. I had to twist her arm (not!) to get her to sit down on my couch aka Bonkchair for a chat. I’ll have her other playmates, Cheryl Harper and Jaclyn Hatcher visit The Book Tart soon too… Just need to get the cupcake crumbs off the cushions first!

Banner-Extra2Me: Codi! Come on in hon. Welcome to my tiny kingdom of Tartlandia. I’m so thrilled that I met you on twitter this past week. We share lots of obsessions. <g> Oh! You just celebrated your very first book birthday. *Kermit Flail* lol ok, let’s do the super flail together…. go! *Kermit Flail/manic chipmunk/howler monkey dance* lol or something like that. *collapses on the couch laughing*

The Book Tart Kermit Flail

Codi: *Bwahahaha-snort-hahahah* With your wild antics and my evil genius, we could take over the world! (Or at least the world of Twitter) <EG> Thank you so much for having me! It’s awesome to find another pea for my crazy pod! *does the Kermit Flail/Howler monkey/pirate dance (cause it’s booty shaking)*

Me: Oh! I love that we’re Pea’s ina Pod like thingie 🙂 *practices Pirate booty wiggle*

We’ll have a chance to perfect that dance cause I know this will be just the first of many book parties. I see lots of rainbow cupcake celebrations in your future. Speaking of cupcakes… Did you happen to have any leftovers? *hopeful look* I do have other snacks. But there’s always room for cupcakes. Have a seat on my virtual couch. Can I get you something to drink?

cupcakesCodi: I did bring you cupcakes! LOOK! MMMMM! *plops down on the couch, I mean *Bonkchair* Yeah that’s right, I’m stealing that word Lexxie Couper! Hmmm, maybe a non-fat white mocha? Oooohhhh coffee..

*snort* Bonkchair is our new word for loveseat.

Click  HERE to see the chat that Lexxie Couper

coined the phrase.

Me: 😯 pretty pretty cupcakes! I needs one! (or three)

So… *hands Codi her drink and flops down beside her munching a cupcake* Tell me about your writing adventure pretty please. Have you been writing for a while? Did you always want to be a writer?

Codi: Since I was eleven I wanted to write books. I devoured so many books a week, my mother used to bemoan my speed. She would buy me a brand new Fear Street and after two hours I’d be begging for more. When I was thirteen I moved up to romance and more “adult” novels, and never looked back! I started writing stories and poetry, but life got away with me. I had hundreds of unfinished projects, sadly waiting to be completed, pathetically crying out “I need an ending! I need an ending!” But it wasn’t until my kids got a little older that I started writing again.

Me: <g> I used to ride my bike to the library every week and fill a backpack with books. 😉

Ok, it’s almost Valentine’s Day and your story is in a Valentine’s Day themed anthology called Kiss Me. *bounces on couch* kiss meThe cover is super cute! What can readers expect from the book and from your story?

Codi: Thank you, it was so hard not to share that cover for TWO MONTHS! I loved it!

Well, I’ve always been in love with people that start off as friends until one day, something just kicks into place and they notice that person’s eyes were amazing or they have that “wow” moment as she’s coming off the stairs, or the elevator, or whatever, but that moment everything changes. *Sigh* Sorry, I’m back.

So of course, I wanted to have that be the central concept, and then my second favorite love story, Ugly Duckling to Swan. I mean, who doesn’t love a good make-over and a sassy fairy Godmother? Or in this case, outrageous coffee shop owner who’s nosy, meddling, and a bit of a tart (in the very best way) 🙂

Me: Awww *sigh* I love that! And… *nudges Codi’s shoulder with mine* you used the word TART!

Ok, hon, cause this is the weekend. Let’s keep this short. But I couldn’t resist doing this to you. *drumroll please*

We’re gonna play a game of Madlibs… nope, not telling what it is. You can make your answers as naughty or nice as you’d like 😀

Tube   top

Cherry   Platforms

White   Mocha

Me: *giggles* Oh… this is gonna be good!

Kat’s Mad Libs

not from a Madlibs book! I just had to tweak the song cause- Duh! It’s the same name as Codi’s book! *Kermit Flail*

Kiss Me

(mangled from Sixpence None The Richer)

Verse 1

Kiss me out of the Succulent Monkey
Nightly, beside the Purple, Purple grass
Grope, Grope, Grope the Flirting Steps
You wear the Tube top and I will wear the cherry platforms.

Oh, kiss me beneath the White Mocha twilight
Lead me out on the moonlit Tahiti
Lift your Dubious Lips
Strike up the band and make the Platypuses dance
Pink Spelunking
So kiss me

Verse 2

Kiss me down by the Swiftly tree house.
Deeply me upon its hanging Rock
Bring, bring, bring your flowered waterfall.
We’ll take the trail marked on your father’s map.

me: *giggles* Grope. Grope. Grope the Flirting steps…. Make the Platypuses dance 🙂 ok- now listen to the song and sing your words… It kinda works. 😀 And NO ONE will forget the title of your book. Kiss me beneath the White Mocha twilight…

Pucker up on the most romantic day of the year with three debut contemporary authors and their tales of romance, seduction, and Elvis?

She’s got a hot new makeover . . . and a boss to seduce! For prim and proper Ryan Ashton, sexy has always been an elusive quality. But with a little help from a new friend, she just might snag the one man who can set her seductive side loose in Codi Gary’s The Trouble With Sexy.

Stuck in a king-size suite with a sexy man . . . What more could a girl want? But for Julie Dillon, being snowed in at an Elvis-themed Memphis hotel with Luke Pearce can’t mean anything but trouble. Too close for comfort gets close enough to taste in Cheryl Harper’s Love Me Tender.

Her best friend’s brother is shaking up her Valentine’s Day! Katie Quinn just wanted to spend the day watching Jurassic Park and eating chocolate. She certainly had no intention of running into Logan Cross—or running for her life! Suddenly caught in the crosshairs of danger, Katie and Logan must get together to find a way out in Jaclyn Hatcher’s Love, Guns, and Heart-Shaped Chocolate.

codiMore Codi:

From the time I could put a cassette into my little stereo, books have held a fantastic distraction. When I was eleven, I decided I wanted to be one of those magical people that brought stories to life. Devouring a book a day sometimes, my first romance novel stuck with me. I’ve always been a sucker for a happy ending (and the great romantic gesture)and that’s what I try to put into my stories. I am so honored to be a part of Avon, and am so excited to have my own dreams coming true.

I’ll forgive you for the Angel bit, but let me ask you this…Are you pro or con Riley? Thoughts? This might be a deal breaker…hahaha just kidding!

Thank you so much for the well wishes and I hope it’s only my first Bonkchair interview with Kat! She rocks the headbanging, blonde wig wearing, 80’s rock band awesome sauce!
