I am so excited to help spread the word about Decadent Publishing’s newest venture, the Prepper Romance line. The first three books in this series will be out on 12/22/12 and today’s spotlight is on
Because this series is all about preparedness… I absolutely, positively *nods head* HAD to ask the launch authors extremely vital questions relating to THE END *dun-dun-dun* If you want to try your hand at this quiz Click HERE
So, D.L. is in the hot seat first… here goes.
Choose your answer and explain why
1. How is the world most likely to end?
A. Zombie apocalypse
B. Creature from the black lagoon on a rampage
C. Natural disaster ie. flood/fire/mosquitoes etc
D. Alien plague
Explanation: E. Odds are 1 out of 8 that a catastrophic solar storm will wreck havoc on earth in the next ten years. That’s a 12% chance in the next decade it will happen. What would that mean? Say hello to the dark ages. Electronics would fail to work. No electricity, or engines that function. Forget your debit cards and computers, they’ll be useless. People will panic when they have no food and the stock market crashes. Police, emergency personnel will be unable to respond to the situation on a massive scale. And transportation will become primitive. (most cars have computers now and all have electronics in one fashion or another.) Communication long distances will be impossible. Chaos.
2. What are you doing to prepare for disasters?
A. Stocking up on non perishable foods
B. Building a bunker or other safe house
C. Learning to shoot the heads off zombies
D. Saving postage stamps
Explanation: E. Start with the basics. Shelter and water. Have a 72 hour bug-out bag with everything you need to survive if you have to evacuate an area fast. As for hunkering down for the long haul. You don’t have to buy five years worth of food with a twenty year shelf life, but do start buying extra when you shop. Focus on water and your supply. Carbs like dried pasta keep for long periods of time and are high energy foods. Dried beans, lentils, peas and other dehydrated foods like powdered milk and eggs also are great items to stock up on. Salt, and vinegar are also helpful for cooking and preserving food. Beer can serve as yeast for bread and carbs for energy. If a major disaster happens, understand that grocery stores may not be accessible or have anything left after people riot. The rule of three is important to keep in mind when planning for disaster. You’ll die in three minutes without air, three hours without shelter, three days without water and three weeks without food. Prepare in that order.
3. What are your chances of surviving if it’s a zombie apocalypse kind of apocalypse ?
A. High (I’m a good shot)
B. Fair to middling (I’m sneaky)
C. Low (zombies? Aaaghgh)
Explanation: A. My entire family is military, or ex-military, including myself. We know how to hold the high ground and have survival training, including first aide for severe trauma, and the ability to use weapons with accuracy, if needed. And we can make a mean meal out of interesting items. Field cooking is a specialty. LOL
4. What would you miss most if the tech fails because of an EMP pulse and we are back in the stone age… well, at least it’ll feel that way.
C. Coffee maker
D. Electric blanket
Explanation: B of course. I’m not a writer without my laptop, but I’d make do with notebooks if I had to.
5. Which of these people would you let in your bunker for safety and why?
A. Justin Beiber
B. Chuck Norris
C. Kate Beckinsale
D. Kate Middleton
E. Will Smith
Explanation: Will Smith. The guys a genius. He had very high SAT scores and actually was thinking of pursuing a career in science and attending MIT. He’s done a lot of research for various acting roles he played, and besides that, anyone that can make you laugh when the world is falling apart. is a good person to have around. Negative moral can kill as well as a weapon. Fear is one of your biggest enemies in a crisis. Keeping people at ease can be a life-saving skill.
Me: Oh! Last but not least, sum up your book twitter style 140 characters or less. Yes, this is a survival skill. Go!
You can prepare for anything but a broken heart.
Thank you for playing here at The Book Tart! I look forward to seeing who survives doomsday and now I know who I can hide behind, or who I can borrow canned goods from.

If you are like me… You might be unfamiliar with the term Prepper. Here’s what Decadent say’s about this New series…
If a disaster struck, would you be prepared? If you had five minutes to leave your home with everything needed to re-start your life, could you? If the world ended, would you?
Preppers are a growing and diverse group that some even call a ‘sub-culture’. But most preppers are just average Americans who simply have a plan for self-sufficiency and survival in case a minor or major disaster happens. They have extra food and water on hand and a bag packed in case they need to get away fast. Some convert old missile silos into bunkers in case of global pandemic or nuclear war, but most are more practical and simply learn or apply the basic skills of survival that our grandparents’ generation used in everyday life. Californians have earthquakes, New England and the Gulf coast have hurricanes, the Midwest—tornadoes. Are you prepared?
Decadent Publishing is tapping into that sub-culture to bring you a line of Prepper Romances. They are sexy, fun, sometimes suspenseful , and always entertaining stories with a little bit of ‘prepper’ thrown in for some added flavor.
