The Book Tart episode 8- review of Maya Banks Echoes At Dawn

Well, Yum! I read the first four novels in Maya Banks KGI series and have been on pins and needles waiting for Echoes At Dawn for the last few months. It was released on July 3rd and I spent three hours on the 4th curled up in my comfy chair engrossed by this story. I don’t read very much romantic suspense… I remember picking up the 2nd book, No Place To Run at Target because it caught my eye (yummy covers) . And then I realized it was part of a series, so I waited till I ordered all the books that were out and read them all, boom-boom-pow! 🙂 I love them so much! Since then I’ve also picked up her Harlequin Desires recent releases and her McCabe historical romance trilogy… that one is still on my TBR pile. Soooo, all that to say that I enjoy the way Maya writes… I’d never read her before. But since picking up my first book I’ve been hooked by the  emotion and heart of her characters, the suspense and tension in the plots and the way her stories pull me into the character’s lives. If you haven’t read her before and you read romance, I highly recommend you don’t miss her books! Check out her site here

He would move heaven and earth to protect her

Was she heaven-sent…or more heartbreak waiting to happen?

Haunted by a military mission that ended in personal tragedy, Declan Byrne still bears a soldier’s scars. As a park ranger on the secluded Mendocino coast, he guards his heart while standing ready for anything. Anything except a beautiful, ethereal woman with a mysterious past, falling from the cliffs to the rocks below.

Angel, as Declan decides to call her, has no memory of what happened. But as her body heals, disturbing dreams emerge. In Declan’s protective care, Angel feels safe to act on the undeniable passion between them, without the threats from old, unnameable demons. The Book Tart Episode 6

My rambly review of Nalini Singh’s newest Psy/Changeling book Tangle Of Need. I adore this series and loved the relationship that grew between by Adria and Riaz. Oh! and seeing what other couples we’ve read about previously, especially Sienna and Hawke. *sigh* are doing in their lives. If you enjoy paranormal romance and haven’t tried this series- run! don’t walk and grab the first one, Slave to Sensation, you are in for a great ride. I can’t wait to see where these characters and this world go next.

Lovestruck by…. Eve and Roarke. Contest!!!

Ok…. My second blog hop! Thank you to Under The Covers Book Blog and Bona Fide Reflections for organizing this giveaway hop with so many great blogs and websites that celebrate reading! Thank you for stopping by The Book Tart. My site is new, but I am happy to share. I love to read and chat about books. I am especially excited about the New Fiction Release database. You can take a look at the print titles for each month and narrow the list down by date too. My geeks are working on the ability to add e-book editions soon.

I just realized I was supposed to share with you what character or series I am lovestruck by…who has me completely smitten. It’s a really great idea for a post. It’s just that I am away from home right now and my stacks and mountains of books don’t travel well. Aack! So, as I was packing I grabbed the starting book and the most recent book in a series that popped into my mind first. And of course, as I was on the plane I was rethinking and wishing I had brought more books with me to share other favorites characters and series. Honestly, I don’t have an ultimate favorite! It really depends on my mood <g> But, do to circumstances beyond my control (Ha!) and the fact that my entire library wouldn’t possibly fit in my suitcase, I am going to share with you the characters that first came to my mind.

Kelly Jamieson Interview

Hi Kelly! Welcome to The Book Tart. Congratulations on your new release Sweet Deal today from Samhain. I was fortunate enough to get my paws on a reviewer copy and can’t wait to talk to you about it. And Happy Release Day to you… Happy Release Day to you… What? Yes, I’m singing.

Thank you so much! And thanks for interviewing me!

Random side question. Are you one of those people who listen to elevator music/mall music or do you tune it out? I listen to it, but if it’s bad I try to tune it out. I love music.

If Yes, Do you sing in the car? Totally! It’s the only place I’ll sing out loud. Other than maybe church on Christmas Eve when we sing Christmas carols.

I just finished reading Sweet Deal and it is my first time reading your work. I loved the story! I am in love with Jake, though I adore him with Shelby… But, I want a clone of him for me. <g> I get into my feelings more on the story in my review. I want to be friends with Shelby and can relate to some of her insecurities and emotions. And I enjoyed watching the “Sweet Deal” Shelby and Jake had develop into something neither one of them expected.

Can you recommend other books of yours I should try next? Thank you, I’m so glad you liked it! Sweet Deal is one of my less “erotic” books (although it’s still pretty hot!) but if you like straight contemporary romance, my “hockey stories” are pretty popular (Breakaway, Faceoff and One Man Advantage). Also Friends With Benefits is similar to Sweet Deal.

I loved reading about Shelby’s girl friends and hope you have plot bunnies in your brain hopping about with stories for Myra and Riley and eventually maybe Kiara too? And as a side benefit getting to see more of characters I’ve already grown to love. Please tell me you have sequels planned after Sweet Deal?!  I do! I hope to write stories for all those girls! Kiara especially deserves a happy ending, don’t you think? But she’ll need some time…

Sweet Deal Review

Sweet Deal

 available June 12, 2012

The relationship is pretend. The chemistry…isn’t.

After her last job ended with a broken heart and a humiliating exit from the company, Shelby Leighton’s project management career is back on track with a new job and a high-profile project. The problem: her new boss is a little too friendly, and the staff is talking. Can you say, “déjà vu?” The solution: casually mention a fictional new boyfriend.

Jake Magill doesn’t do relationships. It’s casual or nothing, but the hot blonde he’s been eyeing at the coffee shop sure is something. Especially when she confesses her problem, and he finds himself offering to act as her date.

Sounds simple. Stroll around the party with Shelby’s sexy curves clinging to his arm? He’s all over it. Until he meets her boss—the man who once stole and married the one woman Jake thought he loved.
