Queen of Tarts Review of
Fight For You
by Magan Vernon
Fight For You by Magan Vernon wasn’t the story I expected… and that’s not a bad thing. It’s dark and gritty. A little bit different than I normally read.. and honestly, I’ve been in a sappy mood. But I read it in one sitting and was compelled by the hero to witness his fight… for his family, for his love and for himself.
I was drawn in by the main protagonist’s voice. The story is told from Nicky’s point of view. It’s raw and powerful and felt real… Like the blurb says, Fight For You isn’t your typical boy meets girl story. It’s boy bumps into girl, feels sorry, tries to make amends, gets involved and finds a reason to fight… It has HOT sex and blood and nope- not rock and roll, 😛 but mafia violence, loss, pain and passionate, burn the building down and burn the sheets up, love.
Magan writes in a way that sucked me in… even though I was uncomfortable with some of the violence, I was there for the ride with Nicky. I wanted him to come through his fights and have someone by his side to fight for.
A few of my fav lines…
♥ There was so much sadness in her eyes that all I wanted to do was see her happy. I never wanted to see her cry again. Not for her ex, not for anyone.
♥ She closed the distance between us, holding my hands. “You’re covered in cuts from the glass and you need to get cleaned up. Let me take care of you like you’ve done for me”
I’d never had someone take care of me since I became an adult.
Fight For You is the first book I’ve read by Magan, (she’s been on my TBR mountain for ages!) and it won’t be my last. If you are in the mood for a romance story with blood and guts and rip your heart out emotion then give Fight For You a try.
