Queen of Tarts review of
All Of Me
by Jennifer Bernard
I’m not a huge sports fan… but I’m a fan of Jennifer Bernard. I love her Bachelor Fireman series and was excited to see what she would do with a baseball team. The romance of Caleb and Sadie didn’t disappoint. I was caught up in their journey and rooting for love to win out over all the obstacles that tried to shut them out of the game.
Caleb has a major league pitching talent and major league baggage. He’s sent down to the minors to get his head straightened out and his game back on track. I LOVED Caleb. He’s sexy and strong and sweet and… sometimes stupid. He was relatable and I liked how the author let me see where he was coming from and what was going through his head and heart. I fell hard for Caleb! But he’s Sadies. 😉
Sadie is sweet and strong. I felt like I could hang out with her and her bestie Donna. (side note, the side characters are equally well written and made me want lots more stories in this series!) Anyway, Sadie has been knocked down, but she got up again (yes, I’m singing 😛 ). I loved her fighting spirit. And I got a huge kick out of the baseball drama that threw Sadie and Caleb together. There’s family, friends, baseball, brawls, Saving the Slugs (not spiders!) cracker jacks, curveballs and lots of love. The snappy dialogue made me laugh out loud and the smexy times were yummilicious.
A few of my fav lines.
♥ Rule number one: No spoiled, good-looking boys. Actually, make that no spoiled, good-looking athletic boys. No boys at all would be the smartest way to go.
The baseball player was no boy, however. He was entirely, one-hundred-percent man.
♥ His feelings for her didn’t resemble anything he’d ever experienced before. Something about her- her spirit, her intelligence, her vulnerability- brought unexpected impulses to life inside him. He wanted her, yes. But he also wanted to be close to her. Close in a way he had no experience with.
Jennifer Bernard kept the bases loaded and me on the edge of my seat cheering for a win. I loved seeing Caleb and Sadie navigate the game of love and needed them to make it safely home. If you like sweet, sassy, sexy romance (and sports!) then sit down and enjoy All Of Me.
