Queen of Tarts review of
by Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott
There’s just something about rock and roll isn’t there? It intrigues and fascinates us. Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s Lost In Oblivion series gives breath and color to the lives of the members of Oblivion. They’ve done and amazing job fleshing out the characters and making them well… real. Twisted is the story of Jazz and Gray… I’ve been yearning for this book since I read Seduced the prequel to this series. I’m so happy to say I wasn’t disappointed!
Gray and Jazz have been nearly family since their teens when she was a foster kid in his house. There’s always been a spark between them… but they’ve stayed in the friend zone, well almost, there’s been some drama since they joined Oblivion. *fans self* steamy drama!
I adore Jazz. I love that Oblivion has a rocking female drummer who can more than hold her own. She has been through a lot and is a strong, colorful, fascinating woman with a spine of steel and rainbow colored glasses. I want to hang out with her and color my hair too. 😉 I also wanted to join in with Heather and encourage her to go after her man!
Gray’s the co-lead guitarist of the band and he vibes strong, sexy, protective… and tortured. He’s been in love with Jazz for nearly a decade and when he thinks the dream of them is over, he’s wrecked. He makes some poor decisions, ones to numb his pain. I wanted to cry, for him and Jazz.
Jazz decides she’s going to go after what she’s always wanted. Gray. The scene between her and Harper when she’s psyching herself up to make the first move is laugh out loud perfect and so true to life. Side note- it’s wonderful to have an ensemble cast. The writing team of Quinn and Elliott have made each character someone I NEED to know more about. I loved seeing Harper and Deacon’s relationship growing stronger and I’m anxious for Simon and Nick’s love stories to come center stage in books 3 and 4.
Soooo anyways, when Jazz makes it clear to Gray that she wants him, it’s game on! The heat between them pours off the pages and their history and caring make the smexy times that much more intense. But it’s not all sunshine and roses and the authors don’t back away from the repercussions of his actions. Jazz and Gray have to decide if they can fight through their issues and hold onto each other.
A few of my fav lines.
♥ Curves. So many curves. She was like a living G-clef made out of flesh and flawless diamond-crushed skin.
♥ “Shh.” She closed his lips with her fingers and kissed the cleft in his chin. “I understand you’re mine. And I’m yours. Isn’t that right?” she demanded, almost daring him to fight the point.
This book packs an emotional punch. Twisted isn’t an easy ride. It’s a gut wrenching, heart gripping, soul twisting ride that made me yearn for Gray and Jazz weather their storm and find a bit of peace together. I am anxiously awaiting the sequel Untwisted. I needs more Oblivion!
