Queen of Tarts review of
by Lila Dubois
Vampires AND Faeries? Gimme! I loved this book. Lila Dubois kicks off her new erotic paranormal series The Wraith Accords with Carnal Magic. I was enthralled by the two paranormal worlds she’s woven together. The Tuatha de Danann and the Vampire Cabals have held to an agreement of peace for 200 years… but something has gone wrong.
Isabel is sent as an ambassador for the vampires to the fae kingdom to discover what has caused the accords to break down. Aed is the warrior assigned as her guide. I fell hard for these two. They are both strong and fierce and immediately drawn to each other. Their love scenes are erotically delicious but more than that I enjoyed seeing them open up and be vulnerable with each other… learn to trust.
Isabel has a history of being used and taken advantage of and though she’s taken back her power and become a force to be reckoned with as a vampire she has baggage. Aed is a good man, a defender, but he is accustomed to being a second class citizen among his people. Both of them find a first class partner and lover in each other. They have to work through the politics and intrigue threatening their races and the misunderstandings and enemies threatening their relationship.
A few of my fav lines.
♥ There was something savage and desperate in his face. No one had ever looked at her like that. As if the world would end if she were in pain.
♥ She brushed his hair behind his ear so she had an unobstructed view of his blue, blue eyes. ” I see you, Aed.”
“You’re the only one who ever has.”
Pick up Lila Dubois’ Carnal Magic and get swept away by intrigue and passion of The Wraith Accords and the love and lust of two people who need each other. I raced through this story in one sitting. I want the sequel. I need to know what happens next… I also want to catch up with Isabel and Aed cause I could use more of them too.
