Maid of Tarts Review of
by Tracy Wolff
Waking up in a hospital after a horrendous car accident that destroys her career as a concert pianist, the last person Elise McKinney expects to see is Quinn Bradford, former child pianist prodigy and current keyboardist for the rock band Shaken Dirty. The last time she saw him was 10 years ago when he left her without a word.
When Quinn hears about Elise’s accident he can’t stay away and after he sees her, he can’t leave her again, not when she needs help. Kidnapping her is the only way he can take care of her and make sure she gets the rest she needs to heal.
A simple act of friendship begins to grow into something more with each prank that is pulled until neither can stop the desire.
Quinn and Elise are fantastic characters. Their chemistry is explosive (piano scene! that’s all I’m going to say) and the humor is devilish (the Twinkie stunt, pure evil genius). Elise was a little too timid for me at first (like the world had beat her down one too many times) but it’s just her way of surviving. She pushes her emotions down deep inside her so she won’t be hurt. As for Quinn, whooeeee, a man that hot who can play rock and roll as well as classical music, sign me up. Tell me where I can get one, please! His protective streak is his best feature (besides his abs) but also gets him into the most trouble. The relationship between Quinn and Elise is sexy, fun and I love that they didn’t just jump into it. They renewed their friendship first, with pranks, caring, and hard truths.
I haven’t read the first book in the Shaken Dirty Series (but will rectify that as soon as possible) and while it is a series, I had no problem diving into this book and not feeling like I missed anything. You meet the whole crew in Quinn & Elise’s story and it was done in such a way that
I will definitely be stalking Ms. Wolff and her Shaken Dirty books from now on!
Here to serve, :p
