Raw and gritty, and dirty as hell. And it’s not often you see your fantasies come to life. This fantasy though? It’s scaring the shit out of me. I wonder if I’ll wake up soon to find this was all a dream.

Gritty, rough, bleak, and dark all describe Raw. This story was twisted and rough, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn’t anywhere close to perfect and that was okay. I did not like everything about this story but I liked it enough to finish it and the ending did not disappoint. Something you should know about me, I like endings that are more real and less happily ever after, just saying.
So a bit about the story, girl and boy both come from rough upbringings. They are survivors but in the surviving some parts of themselves might have been lost. As the author stated, in her note before the blurb on Amazon, “this is not a love story. This is a story of love gone wrong.” And things do go horribly, brutally, beautifully wrong.
Meet Lexi and Twitch. I really enjoyed getting to know these two characters, as well as their friends, Happy, Dave, and Nikki. I laughed out loud during some of Lexi’s internal monologues,
“I blame Twitch for my lack of thinkage. He has me all wound up, and now I have the dumb.” (Aurora, Belle (2014-01-13). RAW (p. 65). . Kindle Edition)
as well as her external dialogues, which are absolutely fantastic!
Delving into Twitch’s mind was a lot more gritty and twisted, “Damaged doesn’t even begin to cover what I am. I don’t think a word has been invented for the level of fucked up I am.” Aurora, Belle (2014-01-13). RAW (p. 207). . Kindle Edition.
He definitely has some issues, but then again, who doesn’t?
A bit of a warning, the sex is rough, dominating, and at times a bit brutal, this book contains violence and death but there is also love and hope. I recommend reading it, but that is because I do enjoy dark and twisty.
“He’s just… raw. Everything about him is raw. And gritty. And unbound. He’s a raging fire. And I’m a fragile moth fluttering into the flame. Sooner or later, I’m going to get burned. I know this. Will I even survive the heat?” Aurora, Belle (2014-01-13). RAW (p. 245). . Kindle Edition.
