The Book Tart Quickie with Erin
Me: Erin! *Kermit flail* You’re here! Come in, come in. Welcome to Tartlandia! *waves to couch* get cozy and we’ll get to it.
Erin: HI, honey! It’s been too long! Oh, I love that dress! Is this couch new? These throw pillows are to die for!
Me: These pillows are great aren’t they? And I love this dress I just rarely have reason to wear it but I dressed up for you!
*Plops onto couch* How are you hon? You’ve are a super duper writing queen! *munches cookie and looks expectantly at Erin.* How many releases do you have on your to do lists this year? 😉
Erin: Well, you know how I love tiaras and being greeted with “your majesty” (wink). I’ve got… hang on, let’s see… two, three… five, carry the one… seven planned. Is that right? No wonder I’m tired! 😉 Oh, wait, six and a half. One is a re-release with some bonus material, so not as much work to do on that one 😉 (I’m still tired though… is there coffee with the cookies? 😉 )
Me: Wow! Have a cookie. Have lots! *shoves cookies at Erin*And Coffee! of course! *pours a cup*
I adore writers like you- lotsa book birthdays! Speaking of book birthdays- Happy Book Birthday for Going For Four!
Erin: Ooh, peanut butter chocolate chip, my favorite! (wipes chocolate off chin) And I can’t even tell you how excited I am about all of these books! And thank you! Going for Four is such a fun friends-to-lovers story. *sigh* I miss Cody and Olivia. They’re just so good for each other 🙂
“It’s either true love…or the biggest mistake they’ve ever made. “
“Counting on Love, Book 4”
Hot firefighter Cody Madsen has stayed away from Olivia Dixon for almost two years-technically. Even though he talks to her every day and sees her every weekend. But there’s no kissing, touching, or telling her how he really feels. Because they’re “just friends.” Anything more than that would mean crossing the line that Olivia’s older brother has firmly drawn between them.
Olivia wants what her three sisters have-true love. She could almost believe she’s found it with Cody, if it weren’t for the fact that he’s her older brother’s best friend and her brother won’t have it. And he’s never steered her wrong before. Her head is telling her to trust her brother, but her heart won’t let go of Cody.
Her solution? A dating site where she and Cody can each find their “Perfect Pick” once and for all.
But when the site yields some unexpected results, their real feelings come front and center. And they have to decide if it’s worth the risk to cross the line from friendship to love after all.
Warning:Contains a starry-eyed romantic, a wannabe knight in shining armor, and chocolate chip cookies. A “lot” of chocolate chip cookies.
Me: What are you working on now (don’t say spring cleaning 😛 ) and when’s your next book birthday?
Erin: I’ve heard of this “spring cleaning” thing but I’m not really familiar with it. How does it work? To me spring is a time for planting flowers and wearing flip flops even though it’s still a bit chilly and taking my walks outside instead of on the treadmill 😀
Me: Ha! Loves you.
So… work… right. Next book, Up By Five, the fifth and final *sniff* book in the Counting on Love series is out APRIL 8th!!! *confetti* I’m very excited to get Conner’s book out to readers, finally! 😉 He’s been a constant character and um… influence… yeah, that’s a nice word, in the other books and now it’s his turn to fall head over heels! And I found the perfect girl to make that happen! *evil-but-affectionate-laugh*
Now I’m working on the last of a three-book series I have coming out this summer — Having a really good time with this sassy city girl and cocky country boy! –and a “secret” project that I can’t talk about much yet 😉 (there’s a tornado and a quirky mayor and a sexy sergeant in the Army National Guard and a feisty female fire chief… how’s that for alliteration? lol!)
Me: *whispers feisty female fire chief a few times* It’s good alliteration. *nods* THAT is a LOT of book birthdays. *throws confetti* happiness
Ok, before I let you escape Tartlandia…we have to have a quickie! 😉
Erin: whoo hoo!
The Book Tart Quickie
1. What do you have on your fridge door?
Photos! Lots of photos! School papers and magnets I’ve collected on trips 🙂
2. Have you ever been canoeing/kayaking?
Yep, canoeing when I was in high school…. had a good time! (but it’s a little outdoorsy for me… I’m not really the canoeing/kayaking type 😉 )
Ha! I’m not the outdoorsy type either! *fist bump*
3. What’s your favourite alcoholic drink?
Um… stuff with alcohol! Lol! That’s sounds terrible! I don’t like beer and I’m a VERY picky wine drinker, but I like all kinds of liquor. Kahlua is probably my most favorite but I’ll never turn down a margarita or a vodka martini or a Sex on the Beach or a… you get the idea 🙂 The sweeter the better.
mmmm yum. I think we might be related! I only drink sweet drinks 😉
4.What nicknames do you have/have had?
Mom. Hahaha! My name is so short and doesn’t really rhyme with anything so never really had a nickname. Some of my friends in high school called me Ernie once in awhile 😉
5. What’s on your tivo (or to be watched list)?
Oh, I’m a Tv-aholic! I love so many shows! Hart of Dixie is at the top of my list. Most of the original shows on USA. I love Once Upon a Time. Watch Castle and NCIS: LA religiously (and on rerun). Never miss Modern Family. My daughter and I have recently discovered Mind Games. Oh and there’s a new USA show called Sirens, about an amubulance crew! It reminds me of the guys in my two series, the Bradfords and Counting on Love! I love my paramedics 😀
6. Have you ever been skinnydipping?
Yep 😉 Long time ago. Before I thought about things like what lives in ponds and rivers…
*O oh! Good point!
7. Who was the last person to send you a text message?
My daughter 🙂 We text a lot which is wonderful <3
8. What’s your most used phrase??
Haha! Probably WTF. But spelled out. And said loudly at the drivers around me 😀
<g> I adore you!
9. If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
Beware the sweet appearance—requires regular caffeine, cupcakes and cuddling… or look out!
I think that should be a sticker or tshirt.
Requires regular caffeine, cupcakes and cuddling.
*nods* I like it
10. Do you still have any music on vinyl or casettes?
Omg! I do! BOTH! Hahaha! Madonna’s Like a Virgin, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet… and a few other classics! 😀
Me: <g> You are a darling for playing with me! Thank you Erin for hanging out at Tartlandia, we definitely need another playdate!
Erin: Anytime, anywhere! These cookies are amazing! Or you can come to my place for cupcakes next time! 😀 And I HAVE to say that your photos with your Bookstore Beau make me grin so big!! So happy for you! <3
Me: awww I’ll take you up on that. I miss my Beau so much! He’ll be back from Afghanistan this summer… Cupcakes help. 😀
Erin: *hug hug smooch smooch*

I’ve been reading romance since my mom first let me into her book cupboard when I was about fourteen. LaVyrle Spencer, Julie Garwood, Debbie Macomber… they took my ‘happily ever after’ ideas from animated princesses to real people in the real world.
I’ve been writing romance almost as long. Many a family car trip was spent with my head bent over a spiral notebook in the back seat. I’ll confess that my very first attempts at fiction were fantasy and paranormals, influenced by my father’s love of the Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and the original Alice in Wonderland. If Harry Potter had been around, I’m sure he would have been on the bedtime story shelf as well.
But it wasn’t long until I started writing about true love and that’s where I’ve been ever since.
I’m so thrilled to be able to share these stories with you! I hope that they make you smile, sigh, maybe even choke up a little. Most of all, I hope that they help you believe in magical things like first kisses, the spark of passion, and the power of true love.
