Me: Liz! Oh my goodness *Snoopy dance* Liz Crowe! You’re here! Come on in hon and get comfy. Guess what I stocked my fridge with? Yep. *nods* your beer! Gulo Gulo coming right up. This is a big month for you. A new book release with Good Faith AND getting on the TOP 25 BEERS OF THE YEAR list. 😀 Cheers!
Liz: Thanks! Yes, it has been a real whirlwind of a month without a doubt. All of these things take time and concerted effort (writing/editing/relationship building) so it is very gratifying to have it all sort of …. Land on me at once, so to speak.
Me: *collapses on couch with beers and bowl of pretzels* So how are you holding up? Your newest, and final standalone Stewart Realty novel, Good Faith, just came out (Nov. 14th). Meep! That’s big. Tell me all about it. I have beer, chocolate and Kleenexes too. 🙂 I’d imagine it’s a bit emotional wrapping up a series like Stewart Realty.
Liz: Well…ok…so give me a sec to absorb that intro and drink my Gulo (my staff knows to pour this for me when I come in by now so thanks for having it around.)
Me: Of course! You are the beer wench after all 😉 *munches pretzel and looks expectantly at Liz*
Liz: It is very emotional yes, on many levels. As I told a local news reporter today balancing the need to write the book I wanted to write and to please my many current fans was a real high wire act. But in the end, I crafted what I think is a book with depth, layers of characterization and feeling that have given many an early reader a serious book hangover. I assure you I’ve been living with my own version of that hangover since May when I began writing it (and dropped into a black hole that I barely remember until I emerged mid July with the thing done in first draft form).
Release date: November 14th 2013 |
Publisher: Tri Destiny Publishing
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Liz Crowe (Author)
Format: eBook and print
Strong personalities—volatile marriages—stressful careers—conflicting goals—difficult children.
Contemporary challenges facing close-knit families form the crucible that forges a new generation.
Brandis, Gabriel, Blair and Lillian emerge from the entanglement of their parents’ longstanding emotional connections, but one’s star will burn brighter – and hotter – than the others.
With a personality that consumes everyone and everything in its path, Brandis Gordon struggles to maintain control as he ricochets between wild success and miserable failure. His life proves how even the strongest relationships can be strangled by the ties that bind.
Brandis and Gabe Frietag are as close as any brothers, bound by both loyalty and fierce rivalry. The strength of their ultimate alliance is tested time and again by Brandis’ choices.
Companions from birth, Blair Frietag and Lillian Robinson share loner tendencies, but come to rely on each other through adolescence. As they mature, both are forced to confront their feelings for the men they knew as boys.
Somewhere between the tangle of good memories and bad, independence and addiction, optimism and despair, the intertwined destinies of the new generation finally collide, leaving some stronger, others broken, but none unscathed.
As a chronicle of three families navigating the minefields of teen years into the turbulence of young adulthood, Good Faith holds up a literary mirror to contemporary life with joys and temptations unflinchingly reflected. Its fresh, real-life voice portrays the sheer volatility of human nature, complete with the hopes, dreams, and unexpected setbacks of marriage, parenthood and “coming of age.”

Me: I like the fact that your site says Good Faith is the last standalone in this series… leaving hope for novellas or spinoffs or or? Gahhhh! 😀 What are you working on next?
Liz: Ha! Good catch dear. **clinks beer bottles with you**
So, you may or may not know that there is already a “side series” from this one: The Black Jack Gentlemen which is about a fictional expansion pro soccer league and team based in Detroit (so named because the expansion franchise was SUPPOSED to be awarded to Las Vegas but Detroit swooped in with some big money at the last minute thanks to Jack’s machinations and snagged it). That series has 3 books already and many familiar characters from the Stewart Realty world make cameos in them. I have 2 more of these planned for 2014.
Additionally I am pondering a couple of novellas. There are a few more stories to tell, a few more characters left to consider and of course the “what happens after” the end of Good Faith that many people are already asking me about. But in long format novels, this is “the end.”
I will never quite let these people go in my head and my heart. I know that.
Me: awwww Well… I have a hard time letting go too so I’m glad to hear that. 🙂
Ok, ok, *daintily chugs beer* before I let you escape my clutches and get back to writing, beer making and chauffeuring your kids around <g> I need to ask you a few very important questions. Extremely important!
The Book Tart Quickie
1. Do you have any pets?
Standard Poodles: Roxie and Layla
2. What’s your favorite TV program?
Depends on the time of the year. Right now? Masters of Sex but I also record and watch Mad Men, Shameless and Game of Thrones religiously. My girls also have me hooked on a silly thing called “Girl Code” on MTV.
I am rather a fan of Mad Men and I NEED to try Master of Sex…. I’m a fan of the 50s 😉
3. What color socks are you wearing?
4. What’s your favorite series to watch on TV?
Said above, depends on the time of the year but probably over all I ADORE Shameless. Truly, beautifully, ugly dysfunction that is funny and poignant all at once.
*snork* I didn’t mean to ask the same question again. *head/desk*
5. Do you have any scars?
None that are visible.
6. Do you decorate the outside of your house for Christmas
Used to, now we are lucky to have the tree up before my birthday (12/17)
Awww Happy early birthday! And I like that tradition 😀
7. Can you summersault
Only under duress.
8. In tic tac toe do you prefer x’s or o’s?
I’m Os! We should play! 🙂
9. Have you ever eaten a whole tube of Pringles by yourself?
More times than I care to admit.
10. What was the last book you read?
The Enemy by Lee Child (I’m doing “homework” for a writing mentor/coach about plotting thrillers so he’s making me read these)
Thanks darling! You are a joy. Please come crash my virtual couch whenever you’d like.
