Enjoy our silly chat and check out her stories!
Oh! Oh! Taryn is giving one lucky duck an ebook copy of Anything But Mine. And trust me, you want it to be yours. 😀 Make sure you enter! *points down* It’s at the very bottom of the post.
The Queen of Tarts
Me: Taryn! *Tigger pounce* Oh my goodness! I’m so glad you’re here! Come on in and make yourself at home. *releases the hug on Taryn* sit sit!
Taryn: It’s been a good long time. I’m so happy to see you’re back online regularly! We’ve missed you.
*tucks into a corner of the couch*
Me: *Collapses on couch* Awwww thanks sweetie. How are you hon? Put your feet up and catch your breath. Can I get you a drink? My new favorite grownup drink is hot chocolate with rumchata. And you’re celebrating a book birthday this week! We’ll toast! And have cupcakes (not toast :P)
Taryn: Oooh. I’m a Caramel Machiato girl – iced. LOL or Pepsi Max. It’s gotta be SUB-zero for me to want a hot drink.
Pumpkin spice cupcake for me! Mmmm. My fave.
Thanks for letting me on your couch to talk about ANYTHING BUT MINE. *rubs hands*
Me: Caramel Machiato coming right up! (I’ll pretend I don’t know you’re a Pepsi girl 😛 )
*sits back down and passes Taryn her drink* Cheers! You have been a very busy bee! Amazon NA Best Seller with Cari Quinn for your Lost In Oblivion Series and you are launching a new way to torture tease us 😉
Happy Book Birthday to you happy book birthday toooo youuuu happy book birthday darling Taryn! Happy book Birthday toooo you! <g>
Yeah, we’ve been doing quite well with our little corner of the rock star world. We tend to go a little grittier than most. So our boys never have an easy road to their happily ever after.
Me: *screams into pillow* I’ve noticed.
To the pain! (and joy 😛 )
Taryn: I’m so excited to be starting another series. It’s got some cameos from our other rock stars in there too.
Me: I love that!
Tell us about your new serial When You’re Gone releasing in 4 parts right? The better to tease us with huh? Also? I can’t stop smiling over the name of the town where Logan and Isabella meet. (Winchester!) *beams*
Taryn: Well, originally I was going for a serial, but went with a longer form trilogy instead. There’s a sort of magic in the number three. And it actually comes up in my writing a lot. Especially in my descriptions. It has a lyrical flow to it that I love to use.
Unfortunately for Logan King in ANYTHING BUT MINE, I seem to be using a similar template to the boys from Oblivion. LOL. That boy is going to work for his true love. Isabella Grace – aka Izzy as far as Logan is concerned—knows exactly what she wants. And it’s not some rock star screwing up her plans. He is a very determined man though. VERY.
On top of that—as if it isn’t enough, right?—I’m trying something a little different for me. I’m dipping my toes into the Romantic Suspense waters. With a healthy dose of the sexy, of course. I can’t help it. I love a strong, sexy hero.
But this is a trilogy, so…yes, there are cliffhangers.
Me: *tries to bop Taryn with my pillow* I fell over the cliff hon. I has needs! Write faster! 😀
Please don’t hate me.
Me: Never! I just need more of your sweet torment 😉
*waves down* ok
do not pass go,
do not do anything else but get this book and curl up to read. 😉
Me: Oh! I nearly forgot the cupcakes! *pulls tray closer and nabs a red velvet* What’chu wrkiering *swallows* What’re you working on now (say Lost In Oblivion 2!) And what are you doing for Thanksgiving? 😉
Taryn: Well…I think I can eat a red velvet cupcake, too. *brushes crumbs off food catcher* aka my chest. LOL.
Me: *chokes on cupcake crumbs* Ha! Loves you! *surreptitiously brushes crumbs off chest*
Taryn: Cari Quinn, my writing partner, is up next on the Lost in Oblivion series – TWISTED is out Dec 2.
Bulletproof Weeks – When You’re Gone, Book 2 (Logan & Izzy) Is out mid Jan.
Me: GAhhhhh! Needs. Wants! 😀
Taryn: As for Thanksgiving. We usually keep it pretty quiet. Me and my brother end up cooking and watching action movies.
Me: *Couch Kermit Flail* YAY!!! I can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
(BTW now I feel the need to watch Die Hard… though that’s kinda a Christmas movie 😛 )
Ok… Before I let you get back to writing and thinking up new ways to tantalize us… How bout a couple silly questions? *puppy eyes*
Taryn: I’m game.
Me: How could you compare your writing process to making a jack-o-lantern? 😀
Taryn: Picking out a pumpkin – is like when I get an idea. Do I want something huge and heavy, or cute and sweet? Or do I want that ugly one that I just KNOW I can make beautiful?
Scooping out the guts – all the stringy guts of plotting. The kernel of ideas are all those seeds. Some are going to get roasted and salted – some are sprinkled in cinnamon & sugar for the fun and crunchy goodness. Then there’s the fibery stuff that you roll up into the newspaper that just won’t work.
Using a template – I’ve got the plot, now I have to go to work. Painstakingly cutting out that perfect design that I thought it was going to be.
Pulling off the template – Oh crap. That’s not what I meant to do! It was supposed to be a witch, and it looks like mountain range. Well, crap. What if I carve this out here, and add something over here. Hmm. Actually, maybe this is better.
Using that little carving knife – Cleaning up all that crap left behind by changing my witch to a gorgeous mountain range in the Adirondacks. Shifting sentences around and cutting out the broken pieces.
Setting the candle inside – Now that all that clean-up is done and the edits are finalized, I can sit back and look at how pretty it is. Spin it around and show it off.
Me: Voila! And brilliant. 😉
I’ve put together an sequence of words beginning with T. Would you rather be thought of as, Taboo, Thrilling, Tuneful, Teasing, Tenaciousor Tan?You can only pick one and explain your answer (silly I know, but more fun for me :P)
Taryn: Teasing – my favorite part of writing is the tease. The sexual tension between two people as they’re pushing, pulling and dancing around one another. That’s my favorite thing. That breath right before the first kiss. *sigh* yeah—definitely teasing.
Me: Ha! Teasing is you to a T! And I loves you for it.
Thank you Taryn! I hope you know I adore you to the muchness and treasure the stories you tell. Keep telling stories!
Taryn: Thanks for always making time for me, darlin’! Your interviews are always some of my faves!
I hope you like Logan!
Me: LOVES! LOVES! LOVES! Logan and Izzy. I want January to come faster! And then we’ll have another playdate to celebrate. 😉
