I’ve been sitting on this fun interview with Arlene Webb for the last few weeks! I am so thrilled that her story for Decadent Publishing’s Prepper Romance line is out today! (and that I can finally share her doomsday quiz)
Falling for Water
by Arlene Webb
I am thankful we made it through 12/21/12 😀 mostly because there are so many books I have on my to be read pile! <g> I already asked the authors of the first 2 Preppers Romances these extremely important questions. Click HERE to see D.L. Jackson’s answers and HERE to see Barbara Elsborg’s quiz results. 😉

Choose your answer and explain why
1. How is the world most likely to end?
A. Zombie apocalypse
Not sure, but it seems clichéd and should have happened by now.
B. Creature from the black lagoon on a rampage
The black lagoon dried up when they invented the SUV. 😀
C. Natural disaster ie. flood/fire/mosquitoes etc
Nah. Have boats, firemen are cool, and I’m a big fan of chemical pest control
D. Alien plague
Bingo. I just hope we mutate into another world as awesome as this one.
I met one of my best friends back in 2003 when I started working at a Waldenbooks in the Kalispell, Montana mall. Her name is Lisa. We bonded over our love of fiction <g> particularly romance. I introduced her to Sherrilyn Kenyon…. I think. It was a long time ago. 😛
We have been friends through thick and thin, job changes and moves and she’s turned me on to so many great books. That’s what friends do right? Share the book goodies! Lisa told me to read Ilona Andrews and Ann Aguirre among others. She’s the girl I call to get the scoop on what she’s read and to *squee!* about books we both love.
Oh! She’s also my convention buddy! We’ve been to the Romantic Times Book Convention 5 times, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2012. 😉 We really get into the costuming and plan for months. I am looking forward to our next adventures. I can’t wait to start sharing more of her book reviews her on The Book Tart! Click HERE to see her first review.
Here’s my girl Lisa ,the Maid of Tarts avatar
Ummm, lol she came up with the Maid title. Seriously! When we were getting ready to go to the Romantic Times Book Convention last spring and I was just starting The Book Tart… She know how much of a spaz I can be and how I get so excited about meeting authors that I forget things and, this is very important… how lost I get! I have a broken navigation system and can’t read a map. Books yes… Maps? Nope. So I start to panic when I look at hotel convention maps. She has learned to keep me calm and on track. Hence the Maid of Tarts designation. 😀 I adore her so much!
ok, I started this blog with the name, The Book Tart. Then I decided as long as I was doing this why not crown myself queen right? So, I dubbed myself The Queen of Tarts and some of my friends said they would review for me too and came up with titles like Baron of Books and Maid of Tarts. I wanted art to fit the site and represent them. I immediately thought of Igor Lukyanov ! He’s the artist who made my pinup art for my Book Tart book marks. He’s a dream to work with and truly wanted to get my vision on paper.
I gave him a few pictures of me and some pictures of various queen of hearts costumes and said… ummm something like that-ish + plus pinup victory rolls in my hair! The look on my Queen of Tarts face is so very me. I love it!
Here’s my Queen of Tarts avatar
Stop by all week as I add the rest of my review court into the picture 😉
I am excited to reveal the art I commissioned from Igor Lukyanov for The Book Tart! He is an incredible artist and he took what was just dreams in my imagination and translated them into art that I am so proud of. 😉
Every day this first week of 2013 I will introduce a new piece of original art destined for my review page.
Thank you to The Book Queen for Lusting for Covers meme. I love book covers! Ones that catch my eye make me read the synopsis. 🙂 I have been scrolling through my New Fiction Release Database, when I’m not familiar with an author, the cover is what will get my attention. That’s why I am so frustrated that half the books in my DB don’t have covers… Grr-arg! lol
I am looking for a volunteer to help me add covers to my new fiction release database. It’s a thankless job that pays in… ummm…. cookies! I like cookies. *nods* I should eat more of them. *sigh*
So anyway, I was looking at February’s new releases and this one pounced out on me and demanded my attention. I want to read Pantomime! I love the font of the title, it’s different, I like the mask and the girl gesturing me to keep a secret… Then I read the plot and I’m hooked. Take a look and tell me how you feel about Pantomime by Laura Lam.

ok… I’m away from home and I have a few vlogs I’ll be rolling out over the next week. I have more fun getting primped up in my pinup wardrobe and chatting about my book obsession than I do writing about it! *sigh* I just babble and spaz and gush (and in this particular vlog I say Um more than normal!) anyway… when I try to write something like a review I obsess over every stinkin’ word and it takes me for-frickin’ ever! So- because I’m crazy busy with work right now, 😉 you will see a few more vlogs than ususal.
I’ve mentioned before that I have a tiny book buying problem right? 😛 I buy books WAY faster than I read them. Here is the results of a recent purchase….
I am thrilled to welcome Taryn Elliot back to hang out with us here at The Book Tart. She’s my boo. 😉 I adore her, plus I love how she writes and the way she finds me yummy pictures of Dean/Jensen most every day.
She has a new story that I am crazy for called Holiday Sparks. I reviewed it HERE in a vlog… with a Santa hat!
We have a fun little chat about holidays, books and boys…. Ben, the star of Holiday Sparks, and Dean Winchester too. <g>
Grab one of the leftover Christmas cookies and enjoy the madness.
I am relatively new to steampunk fiction and I really enjoyed Karina Cooper’sTarnished, book 1 in her St. Croix Chronicles. I just re-read it so I could vlog in my steampunk costume. 😀
I am on a trip right now so my setting is different (I’m in a hallway!) and I BROUGHT my costume with me to film this. Yep! lol I’m a dork. But I have an easier time chatting about a book than writing a review. 😛 I loved the adventures of Cherry St. Croix and I am so excited to read Gilded when I get home, cause I ordered the print copy! 😉
The sequel, Gilded is out now and the lovely Karina has given The Book Tart an excerpt! *kermit flail* Click HERE to read it and to enter my contest.
I am rather a bad procrastinator. Or, rather, I’m good at it. <g> I meant to contact Karina Cooper and tell her how excited I was for the release of Gilded, the 2nd book in her St. Croix Chronicles. I kept thinking I would get to it and I never did. Sooo, last week I sent her a quick little email and because she is completely awesomesauce she sent me an excerpt to post today on her book birthday. 😀
I also filmed a little vlog spazzing out about the first book, Tarnished. Click HERE
I am giving the first book in this series away. Rafflecopter at the bottom of the post.
